Dog Collars
Getting a dog always goes hand in hand with a collar. A dog collar is not only stylish, but it’s also indispensable when walking your four-legged friend.
Which collar is suitable for my dog?
Kentucky Dogwear designs animal-friendly dog collars for small and large dogs. We have a diverse range of collars and other dog products.
Which type of collar you choose, depends on your activities with your dog. Do you often go for a walk with your dog in the evening? Then choose a reflective collar for extra safety and visibility in the dark. Do you and your dog like to go on long, adventurous walks? It might be best to go for a durable, waterproof collar in that case. Our dog collars are available in different types and materials, such as vegan leather and nylon.
We are confident we have a suitable collar for your dog!
What size collar does my dog need?
Most dog collars are adjustable. If you have no idea which dog collar is right for your dog, consult the size chart on the website. With collars for puppies, smaller dogs and large dogs, Kentucky Dogwear offers a solution for every four-legged friend.
Which is better, a harness or a collar?
At Kentucky Dogwear, we believe you should choose what your dog is most comfortable with.
If you intend to leave it on all day, a collar is the most comfortable. Collars allow the dog to move more easily. A collar is also more comfortable for dogs with long hair because the hair does not get stuck in it as easily. If your dog pulls at the lead, a collar will not stop this, but it will discourage this behaviour. A harness gives a dog more freedom around the neck, making it easier to pull at the lead.
A dog’s neck is more sensitive than that of a human. Many vital veins, muscles and the spine run through it. Too much pressure on the neck creates a lot of tension. A harness eliminates the risk of hurting the dog. This makes a harness very suitable for dogs with breathing or eye problems.
When transporting a dog by car, a harness combined with a dog seat belt is safer than a collar, especially in case of an emergency stop.
The difference between a collar and a harness is what you and your dog find most comfortable. Some dogs prefer a collar, others a harness. If your dog pulls at the lead a lot, neither a collar nor a harness will solve this problem. In that case, you should seek the advice of a professional.
What else do I need when walking my dog?
A dog collar should not only fit but also look stylish. Fortunately, we offer a wide range of collars in all kinds of designs. It’s also useful to augment your purchase with other products, such as dog poop bags and a lead.
